Bank Statement to Excel
Convert a supported bank statement into spreadsheet rows locally, inspect uncertain entries and check the balance before exporting CSV.
Statement file
Nothing is uploaded. Up to 5 MB, 100 PDF pages and 10,000 data rows.
Edit cells here to correct an entry. The starting rows are a fictional example.
Formats and balances
ISO dates work immediately. Other numeric dates need your choice.
Use the balance before the first transaction. Negative balances are accepted.
Use the balance after the final transaction.
Export format
Transaction exports use ISO dates and decimal points. Delimiter-only exports keep the source date and decimal text.

Uncertain entries remain in the CSVCredits $200.00 less debits $50.00 give a closing balance of $1,150.00. Difference: $0.00.
Transaction preview
Export includes every row. The preview shows 20 at a time.
| Date | Description | Debit | Credit | Balance | Review |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 Apr 2026 | Salary | $0.00 | $200.00 | $1,200.00 | Ready |
| 4 Apr 2026 | Cafe | $50.00 | $0.00 | $1,150.00 | Ready |
Deposit accounts only. Positive debits reduce the balance and positive credits increase it. Compare each row with the source before relying on it.
PDF extraction marks every row for inspection. Clear its Review cell only after checking the row against the PDF. Scans, encrypted PDFs and unsupported layouts need a bank CSV export.
Formula-like text gains an apostrophe in the export. The original description remains visible in the preview. Import the CSV through your spreadsheet's text import screen to select its delimiter and date columns.
Supported Statements and Local Processing
This bank statement to Excel converter reads structured CSV, tab-separated text and supported selectable-text PDFs in your browser. Files are never uploaded. Clear all removes the current file, text and results from this page.
A statement CSV needs Date, Description, Debit and Credit headings. Balance is optional. Common alternatives such as Transaction date, Details, Withdrawals and Deposits are recognised. Debit and credit columns can appear in either order.
Each PDF page needs separate Date, Description, Debit, Credit and Balance headings above aligned text columns. Scanned pages, encrypted documents and layouts without those columns are unsupported. Export CSV directly from the bank when possible.
The converter extracts transactions. PDF preparation covers document assembly, compression and redaction separately.
Inspecting the Converted Transactions
The preview shows dates, descriptions, debits, credits and balances. Every uncertain row stays visible with a reason and appears in the export. Open Original row in a description cell to inspect the captured source.
Choose day first or month first for numeric dates such as 03/04/2026. Impossible dates remain marked for inspection. Select the source decimal mark before judging amounts. Changing a format reparses every source row and reruns the balance checks.
PDF extraction joins a nearby wrapped description to its transaction and preserves other unassigned lines for inspection. Correct entries in the extracted CSV text. The Review column keeps each PDF row marked until you check it and clear that cell. Remove a header or footer row only after comparing it with the statement.
Export and Balance Checks
Export CSV creates an Excel-compatible file with Date, Description, Debit, Credit, Balance, Review and Original row columns. It contains every retained row, including uncertain entries. Dates use ISO order and amounts use decimal points. Missing values stay blank.
The balance check adds credits to the opening balance and subtracts debits. In the fictional starting example, $1,000 plus a $200 credit less a $50 debit equals $1,150. The entered closing balance matches, with a $0.00 difference.
A matched total also requires every supplied running balance to agree and every row to pass the format checks. A mismatch, missing amount or uncertain row prevents a matched verdict. Without both opening and closing balances, the final balance is not checked.
A matching balance confirms arithmetic under the selected formats. Compare the exported rows with the original statement to check omissions, duplicated transactions and descriptions. CSV is a text file that opens in Excel, rather than an Excel workbook.
CSV Delimiter Conversion
Choose Delimiter only to change an existing CSV between comma, semicolon, tab and pipe separators. Quoted descriptions keep their embedded separators, line breaks and doubled quotation marks. Dates and decimal text stay as supplied.
The delimiter-only preview shows up to five columns at a time. The export contains all columns. Formula-like text gains a leading apostrophe to keep it as text on initial import. Keep that prefix when editing and importing the file again.
