Specialist Finance Group: Broker Aggregation

Specialist Finance Group (SFG) is an Australian mortgage and finance aggregator connecting member brokers with lenders and broker support. SFGconnect is its broker platform, while membership and credit authority come from your aggregation and licensing arrangements.

Specialist Finance Group and SFG

SFG describes itself as an Australian family-owned aggregator. Its company profile lists 1991 as its founding year and Perth as its headquarters, with offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Queensland.

SFG supports home loans, investment loans, commercial finance, motor vehicle finance and personal loans. Its company profile explains the membership focus and lending categories.

The Membership Offer

SFG membership gives your broking business an aggregation relationship with agreed services and obligations. SFG describes individual member agreements and one-on-one relationships with its team.

Its published member stories include businesses that hold their own Australian credit licence (ACL). An own-licence business still needs an aggregation agreement for the services it receives through SFG.

Before joining, identify the legal entity signing your agreement and whether you will operate under your own licence or a representative arrangement. SFG’s published privacy policy names Mortgage Specialists Pty Ltd and ACL 387025. Keep the contracting entity and licensing entity clear in your paperwork.

Credit Licensing and Accreditation

Credit authority comes from a licence or an authorised representative arrangement covering the activities you perform. Mortgage Specialists Pty Ltd is the licensee named in SFG’s privacy policy.

If your agreement appoints you under that licence, your written authorisation determines which credit activities you can perform. If you hold your own ACL, your business carries the obligations of that licence.

You also need the relevant lender accreditation and submission permissions for the loans you lodge. Access to SFGconnect does not grant credit authority or lender accreditation. The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) explains these distinctions in Information Sheet 126: Credit representatives.

Lender Access and Broker Assistance

SFG supports members through lender relationships and professional development events. Its Victorian professional development programme includes lender introductions, compliance information and SFGconnect 2.0 updates.

SFG’s commercial summit brings lender partners together to explain products and help brokers structure commercial deals. That assistance helps you prepare an enquiry. The lender still assesses and decides the application.

For example, a broker assessing a commercial property purchase can discuss the proposed security and borrowing structure with a lender partner. The broker must then submit the documents that lender requires. A discussion at an SFG event is separate from a credit approval.

SFGconnect 2.0 and Its Provider

SFGconnect is SFG’s broker platform built on Salestrekker. Salestrekker’s announcement identifies SFG as its first aggregator partner to launch SFGconnect Version 2.

Salestrekker describes its platform as a customer relationship management and loan-origination system. Client records and loan processing belong in that workflow. Your team administrator must confirm your SFG environment and version before you follow generic Salestrekker instructions.

For a team handoff, confirm who can open the client record, attach supporting evidence and progress the loan. The available actions depend on your account permissions. Our Salestrekker platform guide covers the provider’s broader scope.

Check Delegated Permissions

Give assistants access to the client records and work they need, with submission and commission-report access authorised separately. Opening a client record is a different task from lodging a loan or seeing business-wide income.

  • If an assistant cannot open an assigned record, ask your brokerage’s account administrator to review that user’s access.
  • If a broker cannot submit a loan, the account administrator checks software permissions. Your licensee confirms credit authority, and the lender resolves accreditation or lender-side submission access.
  • If someone cannot see commission reports, the brokerage owner approves the reporting scope. The account administrator or SFG support then resolves access in the system that holds those reports.

Use individual logins so the business can change one person’s access without sharing another person’s credentials. Limit commission visibility to the people authorised to manage that income.

Costs, Commission and Account Responsibilities

Your SFG agreement must settle the fee basis and how the business receives commission. Compare the complete cost, including any commission share, recurring charges, licensing costs and separately charged services.

Record who receives lender payments, how deductions and clawbacks are handled and when your business receives its payment statement. The agreement must also settle training, compliance and record-keeping obligations.

Before moving a book, establish which client records and commission reports you can export. Confirm the notice period, exit charges and entitlement to trail after departure. An export of client records and the transfer of trail rights are separate matters.

Track My Trail With SFG Reports

Quick Analysis takes two original monthly SFG XLSX trail workbooks unchanged. We support workbooks delivered by email, exported from the portal and legacy reports. The upload handbook explains the SFG report route.

From those two reports, Quick Analysis explains the change in trail. You can see clients added or dropped off, discharges, large repayments and where your income is concentrated. Quick Analysis stores nothing.

SFG is also a Trail History report family. Opt into encrypted storage to compare uploaded periods with Historical Analysis. Missing Trail Analysis separates trail that stopped and later returned from discharges, so you can raise payment gaps with SFG.

The analysis uses the reports you upload. It does not connect to SFG’s systems. For other books, see our supported aggregator report routes.

SFG FAQ

I’m an SFG broker. Can I use Track My Trail?

Yes, upload two original monthly SFG XLSX trail workbooks unchanged to Quick Analysis. Email-delivered, portal-exported and legacy reports work. SFG also supports Trail History for comparisons across uploaded periods.

Is SFGconnect the Same as Salestrekker?

SFGconnect is SFG’s broker platform built on Salestrekker. Salestrekker announced the SFGconnect Version 2 launch. Your team administrator confirms which SFG environment and version you use, including its available permissions.

Who Can See Commission Reports in a Shared SFG Account?

The brokerage owner authorises who can see commission reports. Your account administrator or SFG support resolves the required reporting access. Permission to open a client record does not automatically authorise business-wide commission visibility.
