Redrock Group: Boutique Aggregator and Brokerage

Track My Trail Team

Redrock Group is a national boutique mortgage aggregator with Victorian brokerage roots and two ways to join: under your own brand or as a Redrock franchise. Its lender access includes Redrock Money, a proprietary funding line underwritten by Thinktank.

For a broker considering Redrock, the decision is which operating model fits the business. Compare the branding obligations and support inclusions beside the commission split, total fees and rights over your client records.

Redrock’s Background

Redrock began in Victoria in 2004 and grew from a specialist mortgage manager into a national brokerage and aggregation group. Founder Andrew Cowan remains its managing director. Mortgage Professional Australia’s anniversary report described more than 150 accredited representatives in 2024.

Redrock’s own Redrock Money launch announcement describes more than 100 accredited broker partners. These are published descriptions of the network at different points, not a count of brokers currently writing loans.

The group identifies two holders of an Australian credit licence: Red Rock Brokers Group Pty Ltd, licence 405961, and Red Rock Mortgage Group Pty Ltd, licence 384209. Brokers can join as credit representatives under a Redrock licence or aggregate while holding their own licence.

Redrock lists Boutique Aggregator Excellence recognition from the Australian Mortgage Awards for 2024 to 2026. It also lists placements in The Adviser’s Top 25 Brokerages. A ranking placement or Excellence Awardee listing is distinct from winning the overall category.

Franchise and Independent Broker Models

Redrock’s franchise model uses its brand and marketing package, while its independent models let you trade under your own brand. Both sit within its aggregation network. The published commission models distinguish five commercial arrangements.

Model Redrock’s Description Branding or Fee Distinction
New Entrant For brokers establishing a business Independent pathway
Specialist Franchise with branding and marketing tools Redrock franchise package
Advantage For brokers entering the industry Independent pathway
Prime For mature and growing brokerages Higher variable commission percentage
Maximiser For mature mortgage broking businesses Flat monthly fee structure

Redrock’s broker FAQs describe induction support, scenario assistance and application reviews. They also describe mentoring for new entrants over their first two years. Compare which services your proposed model includes, particularly branding costs and any separate software or marketing charges.

Licensing is a separate choice from branding. An independent broker can use a Redrock credit representative authorisation. Holding your own Australian credit licence does not turn your business into a franchise.

Redrock Money and Lender Access

Redrock Money is a proprietary funding line underwritten by Thinktank and available exclusively through accredited Redrock broker partners. Redrock’s launch announcement covers residential and commercial lending, with private lending also included.

This funding line is an additional placement option alongside the wider lender panel. Panel access and access to Redrock Money are separate considerations. The panel also spans asset finance and other lending categories, so compare lender accreditation against the loans you actually write.

For a new self-managed super fund limited recourse borrowing arrangement that acquires real property, the asset must be business real property. Existing arrangements, refinancing of pre-commencement borrowings and acquisitions under pre-commencement arrangements retain the statutory exceptions. The Schedule 5 borrowing rules set out these exceptions. The Australian Taxation Office’s SMSFR 2009/1 ruling explains the business-use definition.

A branded funding line does not remove credit assessment. Assess each application against the applicable product criteria and the client’s needs.

Technology and Partnerships

Redrock provides access to Salestrekker for client management and electronic lodgement. Its own broker systems include SupportSuite for knowledge-base searches and ComplySuite for compliance records and reviews. Redrock’s head office uses Commission Suite to administer commissions and produce statements.

The Adviser reported a Redrock partnership with Sherlok for repricing and client retention. Redrock’s partnership description also identifies automated repricing as its purpose.

Sherlok’s current website describes InstantAPPLY for preparing applications and RateTraker for rate monitoring and refinancing alerts. Its homepage does not list automated lender repricing as a feature of those products. Treat monitoring alerts and lender repricing requests as separate services when comparing what a Redrock package includes.

Fees, Support and Contract Checks

Compare Redrock’s total costs and written service obligations before choosing a commission model. A higher retained commission percentage can still come with additional fixed costs. Our aggregator fees guide explains how percentage and flat-fee arrangements affect that comparison.

Keep these practical checks beside the proposed agreement:

  • Map who handles fact-finding, application preparation, lodgement and settlement follow-up. Identify the person responsible for correcting an incomplete file.
  • Establish who owns the client record and which records you can export on exit. Include documents and notes, not only contact details.
  • Describe how application quality is reviewed, how often files are checked and who resolves compliance findings. Match training to the staff roles that need it.
  • Total the setup and ongoing fees, including software, mentoring, insurance and marketing. Record the GST treatment and which costs are optional.
  • Confirm how upfront and trail are split, when payments arrive and how clawbacks or adjustments appear on statements. Record any deductions after you leave.
  • Match lender access to your required accreditations. Separate Redrock Money eligibility from the wider panel.
  • Review the minimum term, notice period and exit charges. Redrock’s broker FAQs describe a two-year minimum agreement and 30 days’ notice, so reconcile both with your model’s written terms.
  • Specify the data export format and the handover tasks for open applications. Allocate each task to a named person before moving records.

A fast onboarding promise does not replace contract review. If you are changing networks, our guide to switching mortgage aggregators covers the move from lender accreditation through statement reconciliation.

Track My Trail With Redrock Reports

You can use Track My Trail with Redrock commission statements through the Generic CSV template or PDF to CSV. Prepare the statements for two monthly periods using the Generic CSV template’s fields. Keep the loan references consistent so the same loan can be matched across periods.

If your statement is a PDF, PDF to CSV converts it into rows you check and download for analysis. Reconcile the prepared file’s commission totals to the original statement before uploading. Keep the original Redrock statements beside every prepared file so you can trace an adjustment back to its source.

Quick Analysis compares the two periods and shows changes in trail income, including loans that dropped off and large repayments. It stores nothing. With opt-in Trail History, Missing Trail Analysis tracks missing and returning trail separately from discharged loans, giving you a record to raise with Redrock.

Our supported aggregators guide explains the report routes across networks.
