MoneyQuest is an Australian mortgage broking group with two broker paths: the MoneyQuest franchise and the Buyers Choice sub-aggregation network. Choose the franchise to trade as MoneyQuest, or explore Buyers Choice if you want its support while keeping your own brand.
The distinction affects your business identity and the agreement that governs your income. Shared group membership does not give both paths the same fees or exit terms.
MoneyQuest Group Explained
MoneyQuest Group brings branded franchises and broker-owned businesses into one group. MoneyQuest’s history dates its establishment to 2007 and its franchise launch to 2016. Its head office is Level 5, 278 Collins Street, Melbourne.
MoneyQuest acquired Buyers Choice in 2021. The group’s own overview still lists both brands alongside Freedom Aggregation and other broking businesses. Buyers Choice is part of the group, rather than a separate franchise name for MoneyQuest brokers.
For a broader brand comparison, see mortgage broker franchises in Australia.
The MoneyQuest Franchise
A MoneyQuest franchise lets you run a broking business under the MoneyQuest name, with central support for compliance and marketing. The recruitment material also describes online learning, systems and team training, IT assistance and business development support.
The group’s service models list a Premium franchise model with revenue sharing. Support includes compliance coaching and marketing team support. Brokers also receive MyCRM training. The franchise agreement sets the actual inclusions and the financial commitment.
You take on the brand’s operating rules as well as its support. Request the disclosure document and a written schedule covering establishment fees, ongoing payments, marketing charges and required systems. Include office, insurance and staffing costs in your own budget.
MoneyQuest’s own explanation of franchising says a shopfront is not compulsory. Brokers can work from home or a private office. It also says franchise territories do not restrict where clients live. Have the agreement define your territory, naming rights and any local marketing restrictions before committing to premises.
Buyers Choice Mortgage and Finance
Buyers Choice Mortgage and Finance is the group’s boutique network for brokers using the Buyers Choice name or their own business brand. Its broker recruitment page describes mentoring, accreditation and business development help, alongside marketing and compliance support.
Buyers Choice states that brokers own their business, clients and commission. Translate that statement into the agreement’s provisions for ongoing trail, client records and a future business sale.
The choice between Buyers Choice and a MoneyQuest franchise involves more than the sign above the door. Compare branding obligations, support inclusions, licence arrangements and payment deductions. Put the contract term and exit rights beside those costs.
The group also publishes own-brand service models with flat fees. That does not establish which fee model applies to a particular Buyers Choice offer. Use the proposal issued to your business for the comparison.

Joining, Licensing and Lender Access
Joining either path requires a business agreement and authority to undertake credit activities. The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) explains the licence or authorisation requirement.
MoneyQuest’s website names Money Quest Australia Pty Ltd as the holder of Australian credit licence (ACL) 487823. Buyers Choice’s website identifies Buyers Choice Home Loan Advisory Service Pty Ltd as corporate credit representative 396766 of Buyers Choice Licencing Pty Ltd, ACL 509484.
Those are distinct licence arrangements. Your appointment must name the licensee authorising your work. If your business holds its own ACL, have the aggregation agreement specify the support provided to an independent licensee.
Buyers Choice advertises access to more than 60 lenders. Panel membership and your personal accreditations determine which products you can write. Ask which head aggregator supplies the panel for your proposed agreement and which lender accreditations transfer when you join. Obtain the panel schedule with any product restrictions.
For an experienced broker, use this order:
- Submit your business profile and current accreditations for the proposed model.
- Compare the written support and payment schedules with your existing agreement.
- Set the licence appointment, accreditation transfers and client-data migration timetable.
- Reconcile the old trail book and the first statement under the new arrangement.
For a new entrant, agree the qualification and mentoring pathway first. Buyers Choice includes mentoring and accreditation in its recruitment proposition. Have the proposal name your mentor, supervision requirements and costs before you commit to the business setup.
How MoneyQuest and Buyers Choice Brokers Are Paid
Your commission agreement determines the broker’s share of upfront and trail and the deductions made before payment. Upfront relates to a settled loan. Trail is the ongoing payment under the lender’s commission terms.
For either path, map the payment chain from lender to processing entity to your brokerage. Request a sample commission statement showing the issuing entity and the payment timetable. The agreement must identify who processes commissions, when statements arrive and when money reaches your account.
Compare these items in the MoneyQuest and Buyers Choice offers:
| Agreement item | What to obtain in writing |
|---|---|
| Upfront and trail | The broker’s split for each payment type and the basis used to calculate it |
| Deductions | Franchise or aggregation fees, technology charges, marketing charges and any minimum payments |
| Clawbacks | The lender rules passed through, who handles adjustments and how disputed amounts are resolved |
| Statements | The issuing entity, file formats, payment frequency and correction process |
| Exit | Trail ownership, ongoing deductions, transfer rights, sale conditions and notice requirements |
For example, a higher retained split can still leave less income if ongoing charges exceed the difference. Compare the net payment using the same loan book and settlement assumptions. The aggregator fee guide explains the fee structures to put beside each proposal.
Track My Trail With MoneyQuest Reports
You can analyse MoneyQuest or Buyers Choice commission statements in Track My Trail using the Generic CSV template. For a PDF statement, use PDF to CSV, check the converted rows and download the CSV for analysis.
Upload two monthly statements to Quick Analysis to see who was added and who dropped off. We also show discharged and refinanced clients and where income is concentrated. That gives you the loan-level changes behind a rise or fall in monthly trail. Quick Analysis stores nothing.
For ongoing checks, save reports in opt-in Trail History and use Missing Trail Analysis. It separates trail that stopped and later returned from discharged loans. You can raise a payment query with the affected months and amounts, instead of treating every missing payment as a lost client.
