Calculations and CSV downloads stay in your browser. This record reconciles your entries and does not certify attendance or programme compliance. PDF prints the visible results.

Activities and Recognised Hours

Recognised CPD hours depend on the programme's rules and the activity's eligible learning content. Enter elapsed minutes separately from the credit awarded. A two-hour session with a half-hour break has two elapsed hours and could have 1.5 recognised hours.

The calculator uses the recognised hours you enter, then excludes activities outside your period or marked ineligible. It applies each category's maximum after adding its eligible activities. Enter a provider's adjusted credit once. The calculator does not apply a second multiplier.

Eligible sessions with overlapping times stop the calculation so the same time cannot silently count twice. Duplicate records with the same activity, provider, date and start time also stop it. Use one daily record per activity and the same time zone throughout.

Category Targets and Shortfalls

Category shortfalls compare credited hours with your entered minimums. The total shortfall compares the sum with your overall target. Meeting the total can leave a category short, so read both results.

MFAA's CPD requirements specify 30 hours per membership renewal year and generally recognise one hour per hour of completed activity. FBAA's CPD requirements apply different limits to different activities. Its CPD record card states 25 hours annually from the membership anniversary.

This tool starts with entered targets and three editable categories. Use the categories, caps and period that apply to the activities you are recording. A maximum limits credit, while a minimum creates a shortfall. They perform different jobs.

In the illustrative example, 8 workshop hours plus 12 course hours and 6 reading hours total 26. The total target is 30, leaving 4 hours. If the technical category is capped at 10, its 20 entered hours contribute 10. Total credit becomes 16, leaving 14 hours.

Keeping a CPD Record

The CSV keeps each activity's description and provider alongside its date, start time, duration and evidence reference. It records entered credit, counted credit and exclusion reasons. Category targets and the named recognition rule travel with the record.

Keep certificates or attendance evidence separately and use the evidence reference to find them again. Download the CSV before closing the page because entries are not saved after a reload. Reconcile this local record with the membership or licence arrangement you use.
