CommBroker is Commonwealth Bank’s portal for accredited mortgage brokers. It holds CBA product and credit-policy material, forms, service updates and tools for applications and existing loans.
Use CommBroker as the current CBA record for each file. Check the policy and form before lodgement, then use the application record to guide the next step in the application process.
What CommBroker Gives Accredited Brokers
Accredited brokers use CommBroker to access current CBA lending information and file tools. Service updates help you choose a follow-up date. Current forms and policy help prevent a case from returning for avoidable corrections.
For commercial lending or asset finance, follow the contact and process shown for your accreditation. Apply the same check to business loans because the correct route depends on the product and broker authority.
How Accreditation Works
A new residential broker application starts through your aggregator’s Head Group accreditation team, which creates the online application. CBA’s residential broker accreditation requirements cover education, industry membership and your licensee.
You must be enrolled in or have completed the Diploma of Finance and Mortgage Broking Management, or hold an accepted qualification with a finance component. Eligible qualifications include an Advanced or Associated Diploma, a bachelor’s degree or honours degree, a graduate certificate or diploma, a master’s degree or a doctorate.
CBA requires current membership of the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia (MFAA) or the Finance Brokers Association of Australia (FBAA). You must be an employee, credit representative or director under a CBA Approved to Recruit Australian credit licence (ACL). Enrolled diploma applicants must complete the relevant course within 12 months of accreditation.
CBA states that the assessment can take up to 15 business days after submission. The broker then completes CBA’s short accreditation modules and assessment questions before receiving a Broker ID. Build this time into your panel planning.
How Broker Customer Connect Works
Broker Customer Connect (BCC) connects eligible CommBank home-loan customers with a CBA team for factual information and help with banking services outside home-loan onboarding. All new and existing brokers can use the program. The request path depends on the broker segment.
Platinum brokers can use the broker-initiated form. Customers of other participating brokers, including Essential and Elite brokers, use the digital request path. Confirm your segment before explaining the referral process to a customer.
BCC works under a no-advice model. CBA’s Broker Customer Connect process targets contact within three business days of receiving the form. The team emails the contact outcome to the broker. Keep your own follow-up date because the three-day period is CBA’s service target.
Use CommBroker in the Client Workflow
- Confirm that your accreditation and Broker ID are active.
- Check the current product policy against the customer’s position.
- Download the current form for the case.
- Review service updates before setting a response date.
- Record the application status and next action in your approved system.
- Use the correct BCC request path when the customer wants that service.
Accurate file updates support client relationships. Tell the customer what CBA has received, what remains outstanding and when you will check the file again.
Keep the Lender and Brokerage Records Separate
CommBroker holds the CBA lender record. Your brokerage keeps its own record of the customer relationship.
Product fit must determine whether CommBroker is the right choice for a case. Portal use can support client retention when it helps you give timely and accurate updates.
Compare lender broker tools by the work required for a real file: finding current policy, lodging the correct form and reaching the right support team. For other lenders on your panel, use the broker portal guides to find the correct access and file process.
Your customer relationship management (CRM) system holds client consent, contact history, compliance evidence and brokerage tasks. Reconcile both records after each material update so the next person working on the file has the same status and next action. Use the CBA lender-policy guide for commission and clawback rules that affect the files you lodge.
